Scrapbook Savvy December DT Reveal

This month over at Scrapbook Savvy I was very fortunate to receive the now SOLD OUT We're Savvy kit.
It was a neutral kit with a mixture of papers from Studio Calico, October Afternoon and Basic Grey. They were well co-ordinated which made it fun and easy to put pages together.

Here is what I did:

Special New Release @ WOW

Have you seen it yet?

It is Brilliant!!!

WORDS OR WHATEVER have created an awesome MDF box to carry 12x12 papers or of course your stash of AltaMATZ with a storage tray on top to hold some of your tools, your collection of mist or maybe some of you favourite embellies.

The box comes with easy to follow instructions, it can be painted first and then assembled or you can do what I did, stick it all together and then paint or cover it.

I have used some an old book pages that were torn into smaller pieces and applied to the box using 'Sparkle' Mod Podge. Once the box was dry, I have inked all of the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink and painted the bigger edges with black paint. I have used ribbon, lace and string to decorate the top part of the box and then made a feature on the front of the box.

It is now filled with my complete collection of masks and the top tray holds some of my favourite mists/paints. Think I might add a few inks as well!
It is fantastic to have them all together.

The BOX will be listed on the website shortly, stay tuned.

WOW December New Releases

This week over on the WOW blog it is "New Release" week and the design team have posted some gorgeous examples that showcase some of those new pieces.

My first page is about a fun family night spent at the Adelaide Showgrounds watching the Monster Trucks, which Harrison thoroughly enjoyed. It was created using 2 of the newly released AltaMATZ's.

The background was created using the 12x12 Checkerplate 1 AltaMATZ.
Originally, I was using it to stencil a sheet of kraft cardstock with black and brown mists.
When I removed the AltaMATZ from the cardstock, I realized there was an excess of mist sitting on there, so rather than waste it, I grabbed another sheet of cardstock and stamped the AltaMATZ down.
Once it was dry, I found myself loving that effect and decided to use it and keep the other cardstock for another day.

The 6x6 Bamboo AltaMATZ was sprayed using green mist onto kraft cardstock.
It was then cut out to be used as grass for my page.

Photobucket

I have also used Cog Corners and Detailed Cogs to embellish the page.
These chipboard pieces have been covered using Walnut Ink Crystals. I have dried them using a heat gun and then coloured them with layers of metallic inks.

My next page features a gorgeous photo of my son taken at a look-out in Brisbane.
I can't believe how grown up he looks here.

The newly released chipboard piece showcased here is the awesome Cog Heart.
I have used bronze, black, silver and gold embossing powders and a heat gun to create the finished look.
The Lowercase Classic Alphabet used for the title has been inked and then outlined with a gel pen.

My final page was created for a bit of Halloween fun and it captures highlights of our night out.
I've used custom cut ebony chipboard pieces, Skulls 2 and Bats
They have been rubbed with different colours of Metallic Rub to give them some highlights and then coated with Glossy Accents

Savvy December BIG Sketch Challenge

It was my turn this month, to host the Scrapbook Savvy BIG sketch with a twist over on the forum.

Remember we now only have the ONE monthly challenge.

A DT member choses a member's page from the gallery and then creates a sketch based on that page.

It is pretty simple and to make it exciting, it has a MASSIVE $40 store voucher with free post as the prize!
Who wouldn't want to have a go?

As soon as I spotted this page in the gallery, I had it ear-marked for my sketch.

I just had to keep my fingers crossed that it wasn't picked as last month's sketch or removed for publication.

So thanks to this awesome page created by Monique aka Niq16, I have created a sketch for you to use for December.

Enjoying The Good Life

Round Up of my week over at WOW

**WARNING WARNING WARNING**

Very long post, maybe grab a cuppa :)

Wednesday - It's Bumblebee

Sharing something bright and colourful.
I decided to scrap an older photo of my son, one of many photos that captures his love for Transformers.

I have used some cogs from the Detailed Cog Set.
They have been inked with different colours to co-ordinate with the papers and photos and layered using foam tape on the page for some dimension.

Photobucket

I love the Cogs, they are the perfect addition to any boy page

Photobucket

Thursday - Simply because you are my Son

I have a little tutorial to share, it involves Metallic Rub On Paste, some WOW chipboard and getting your hands dirty. I adore this stuff, it works beautifully with naked chipboard and is so easy to use.

Chipboard pieces are the 'Simply because you are my Son' title C1212 and a Tia Flourish C1474,

Photobucket

First step was to cover the chipboard pieces with Pinecone Ink as a base colour.

Photobucket

Next step, I put some aqua-green metallic rub on my finger and rubbed it over the chipboard, making sure to cover it well.

Photobucket

Now to have some fun! Just sing your finger select different colours of the rub and add highlights randomly to the chipboard. Choose colours that will work well with your papers.
I've used red, bronze, gold and green.

Photobucket

Once I was happy with the effect on the chipboard, I applied some Chrystallina Kindy Glitz to the word 'Son' to make it stand out and left things to dry. The final layer is Glossy Accents, I love that it allowed the metallic rub to really shine.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

You can also spot a zig zag Sewing Stitch border across the top of the page

I love the finished page, one of my favourites right now.

Photobucket

Friday - Tree of Love

These pages were originally created for my October DT work over at Scrapbook Savvy butI wanted to share them again to highlight the WOW chipboard I had featured on each page.

The first page features my creation that I have aptly name my Tree of Love.
It started with the Curly Tree C1077, Mini Birdhouse C1392 and the Mini Heart Pack WOW1595.

The tree was simply covered using VersaColor Pigment Ink in pinecone and stuck straight down on the page. I covered the Mini Hearts using Brilliance Rocket Red Gold Ink. I love the shimmer in these inks and the gold highlights this particular colour has. The hearts where also given a coat of Glossy Accents. I really should have shares with this stuff. The Mini Birdhouse was swiped with Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue and then backed with patterned paper. I used a small punch and patterned paper for the leaves. I have layered some of the chipboard pieces with foam tape to give the tree some dimension.

Photobucket

And here are the 2 most special guys in my life.

Pageant Watching

Photobucket

My second page showcases a custom piece of WOW Chipboard created for this year's Savvy Delights Retreat. It's great that we can scrap a group photo each year and have the title on hand from WOW.

I did use some ink here on the bigger parts but also used metallic pens and textas to colour the smaller parts of the chipboard, it made the decorating side of things so much easier, especially for the more intricate parts.
Of course, this chipboard was begging to be coated with Glossy Accents :)

Photobucket

Absolutely love the black & white photo this year!! Great bunch of girls.

Photobucket

Saturday - No. 1 Defender

My final page for the week and I've gone a little sporty using the WOW Soccer Boy and Soccer Ball pack.

The Soccer Boy was originally covered with Cream Brown ink to colour the skin, then I have used a black and metallic blue pen to cover the rest of him.

Photobucket

The Soccer Balls are two pieces that go together for some dimension, The bottom layer was inked white and top layer inked in black. They were stuck together and then coated with Glossy Accents.

Photobucket

I have also included the Love Birds singing on a branch chipboard for an outdoorsie feel to the page. This pieces was covered with Pinecone ink, metallic blue pen and green smooch.

Photobucket

Very happy with the final result, even my son thought it was cool.

Photobucket

So there you have it!
I hope you survived until the end of this post, I didn't realize there was still so much to share.

I will be back later today to share my November Cybercrop Challenge and page for Scrapbook Savvy this weekend.

Thank you for visiting  my blog.
